The Girl Who Drank The Moon by Kelly Barnhill
“She was eleven, after all. She was both even and odd. She was ready to be many things at once—child, grown-up, poet, engineer, botanist, dragon. The list went on.”
I love magical realism, coming of age novels, fairytales, poetry. If you do too here’s a must read. I enjoyed every bit of it.
It sounds nice. What grade level might this be? Could a 4th grader read this one?

Hi Andy, I loved it! The themes are definitely age appropriate for 4th grade. I looked it up on commonsense.org and it got rated age 9+ by children and 10+ by parents. Sounds like it’s in the ballpark of 4th grade.

My oldest is a good reader. She is powering through all the Harry Potter books right now. This looks enjoyable for her to read thank you!

I know she will. Did you like any of the other books by that author? I see a few pop up when you google it

I’m reading the witch’s boy right now. More than 1/2 way thru and loving it as well. Another adventure grounded in love and friendship.
