Returning to this barn from several years ago. I can’t find the original post but I have the pictures:

My father-in-law loved going out for a long drive and a smoke. He enjoyed sharing time in this way with those he loved. Between long drags he would point out and identify by name wildflowers and birds in nearby trees. He would sing along every time The Beach Boys came on the radio. On one of our outings he humored me and pulled off the rural windy road so I could snap the pictures posted above dated 2014.

So sad to say he’s gone now but I think of him often especially when I catch a bird in my viewfinder or see a wildflower he introduced me to or hear The Beach Boys come on the radio.

It hit me, I was losing someone dear.” -Brian Wilson/Mike Love
Do you remember where you were in July of 2014?
I’m sorry you lost your family member. Nice photos, it looks like the tree is consuming the barn. In 2014 I had moved to Las Vegas and was married to ex #3. Three strikes, I’m out.

Thank you, John! He was a good guy. A little gruff and intimidating initially but a real softy once you got to know him. Yeah the barn did look like it was disappearing in 2014. Today it looks so brittle and fragile. In 2014 you moved to Vegas with your Nikon? Or did the landscape inspire you to get into photography?

It was actually summer 2013, oops. I’ve been a photo nut for many years now Sandra. My camera skills are much better these days but I’d never refer to myself as a pro photographer.

Thank you, Chris! I really like old barns too. I grew up in a small rural town. Saw them all the time. Had to move away to appreciate them properly.

Thank you, Rachel! Something about an old vacant barn. Occasionally I’ll come upon a shiny new aluminum barn and I’m not moved at all to photograph it. Funny, isn’t it?

It looks rather spooky. I have wracked my brain to think of what I was doing in July 2014 but I can’t think of anything. Hahaha!
