Fortunately we’ve been getting lots of rain recently! I found this little guy in our backyard. You can see the stormy gray skies overhead. I hope you’re all doing well!
My neighbor (next door here at The Lion’s Den, had a hummingbird feeder.) I used to enjoy sitting outside and watching them come and go while I sipped my beverage du jour.
But then she moved away and the hummingbird feeder fell into neglect and disrepair and the birds went elsewhere.
So I no longer sit on my porch.
This has made me somewhat sad.
But, I got over it.
Great post Sandra:
You always manage to trigger my verbosity. I love this about you, My Great. Good Friend.
He is a cutie! They are the cutest until they start marking their territory with other hummingbirds. I feed them and have about 6 in the backyard. They literally will fly by so fast I feel like I have to dodge them. Then they fight with each other all day to keep other hummingbirds away from “their” feeder. Too funny!
We are good here in AZ and hope you are doing well my sweet.
Wow! I never knew that Nancy! We have this one who frequents our backyard landscape. We had a feeder but the ants bombed it. I’m happy to hear that you’re doing well! Same here in CA. Let’s keep it going! ❤️
Thank you Ellen! Isn’t it fun to discover wildlife in your own backyard? It’s a nice reminder that life carries on even tho we sometimes feel like we are stuck standing still.
Still getting rain? Wow. We only had the one. I have noticed that the birds start chirping aggressively just before 7am, though it’s still fairly dark out. CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP! Oy vey.
Stunning shot of such a tiny little bird! Well done, Sandra!!

Excellent capture, Sandra! Such detail and a wonderful colors and composition of the hummer with the stems and those drops of water.

Fantastic backyard scene, Sandra! And now I have the Seals and Croft song in my head this Thursday morning. Hummingbird don’t fly away, fly away …

Yes, the stereotype is true! They are early risers and they think we should all join them. CHIRP!!!!
